How I started and how I’m doing…
Where did January go? Somehow it just flew past me and now I find myself in the middle of February.
While the freedom of being a full time artist has always been a blessing, it has its own issues. Administration work, setting goals and mapping out my year takes time and makes me want to go down the rabbit hole of procastination. hahaha.
And most days, well, I would just like to create in my studio and wish that everything else that’s needed to run the business will just magically happen. Am I the only artist who feels this way?
In the beginning, I ran my art business without a plan. My efforts were scattered. I really didn’t know what I was doing. I enrolled in several online programs which helped a little bit but lacked the roadmap that I needed as an artist and a business owner.
Then I discovered Matt Tommey's Mentoring Program. This, by far, has been the best art business program that I’ve done. Matt’s program takes on a holistic approach to the artist as an individual and as an entrepreneur.
The modules are very informative. Not only does Matt bring in his own expertise but he brings other experts as well. Matt and his team engage with the members of the program several times a month on live zoom calls. They go above and beyond because they want their members to be successful. As a bonus, I’ve met so many wonderful people around the country and the world who’ve become lifelong friends.
The best part is that you can take a free mastermind class that they hold several times a year. In this way, you can get a taste of what the program is like before you invest your hard earned money in the program.
I’m not going to lie, it’s not cheap but it’s also not the most expensive when you consider the gains from the program. I’ve gone from no plan to barely any sales to having better sales and a strategy for my business.
While I still have a long way to go, I’m so grateful for the community that I’m a part of and the lessons that I’ve learned. If you’re an emerging artist, please check it out and see if it’s the right fit for you.
